Hers; The Smurfette Principle by Katha Pollitt – This article was written in 1991 and is still relevant today. My daughter has 3 Sesame Street books for very young kids that are very short. Only one of them, titled “At the Zoo,” has a female character, Zoe. Though she is featured in her own part with a zebra, unlike Elmoa and Big Bird, she is not mentioned by name.
