Book Review – 12 Years a Slave

Posted by Cat | Blog | Wednesday 10 December 2014 7:07 pm

“I just finished reading 12 Years a Slave. Because of its age, the book is free on Amazon.com for Kindle since it is in the public domain. I write this piece as knowing of the movie but not yet seeing it. If I have an opportunity to see it soon, I may compare the two with both fresh in mind.”

I have added a new album to the new gallery, titled “Quotes”. It has one quote now that I came across today in a discussion for the pending Ferguson grand jury decision announcement.

Sailor Moon Crystal Links Updated

Posted by Cat | Blog | Sunday 2 November 2014 10:00 pm

I’ve replaced the link that listed the Sailor Moon Crystal episodes. They are now all on one page like the Tropes vs. Women in video games page. I have added the latest two episodes. I want to stick with the series since I like Sailor Moon, but I must confess, I found the last episode really boring. Admittedly, some of that boredom comes from already knowing stuff in the older anime.

Hers; The Smurfette Principle by Katha Pollitt – This article was written in 1991 and is still relevant today. My daughter has 3 Sesame Street books for very young kids that are very short. Only one of them, titled “At the Zoo,” has a female character, Zoe. Though she is featured in her own part with a zebra, unlike Elmoa and Big Bird, she is not mentioned by name.
